Classic Christian Rock Radio Widget

Take a look over in the right hand column and you'll see a widget with a great classic Christian rock online station: Classic Christian Rock from Live365 (courtesy of Mr. Bill). Just click on the play button and it'll launch a player. The album cover and song that is currently playing will show in this widget, so you can always tell what kind of great music they are broadcasting. Good stuff.

A Long Time Ago...

I posted on this blog. I'm attempting to add a widget to the sidebar where you can listen to classic Christian Rock from Live365. Stay tuned...

Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart - Stranger to Danger

If you watched Real Videos back in the 80s, you saw plenty of this video. It was probably one of the first Christian rock concept videos. Very dated, but not bad for an 80s Christian rock band.

Interesting sidenote: I pass by that "Jesus Saves" steeple every day on the way to work. Hard to believe that it looks just the same after all these years.

Artist: Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart
Song: Stranger to Danger
Album: Brand New Start (1982)

Rez Band - Love Comes Down

one of my favorite bands from this era was Resurrection Band, aka Rez Band, aka Rez. They were a quality product that was comprised of members of Jesus People USA (JPUSA), also known as the Christian commune in Chicago that began and runs the Cornerstone Festival. They were, and still are in my opinion, one of the most legit rock bands in existence. I will say that my only complaint about them was their insistence that Wendi sing several songs per album. I'm not a huge fan of her voice. But that's just me. Anyhoo, here's the concept video for Love Comes Down.

Band: Rez Band
Song: Love Comes Down
Album: Between Heaven and Hell

BONUS (since I took a couple of days off for Labor Day:
Here's an incredible remake of the Rez Love Comes Down video. I'm speechless...

Petra - Chameleon / Angel of Light / Second Wind (live 1984)

This one doesn't need much explanation. It's a video of some classic Petra tunes from Never Say Die and More Power to Ya played live, somewhere. It's a capture from a Christian Music videos program called Light Song. This is about the time I started getting into Christian music (and music in general). My first two tapes were Never Say Die and Steve Taylor's I Want to be a Clone. I've been messed up ever since. :)

Band: Petra
Song: Medley: Chameleon / Angel of Light / Second Wind (live 1984)
Album: Never Say Die & More Power To Ya

Altar Boys - You Are Loved

The Altar Boys were one of my favorite groups when I was in high school. They were one of the few bands that could teeter the line between legitimate 80s-era pop-punk rock and in-your-face spirituality. Having something besides Dallas Holm to help keep me entertained was important to this teenager.

I didn't even know this video existed until recently. I was happy to run across it...

Band: Altar Boys
Song: You Are Loved
Album: Gut Level Music (GLM)
